Assertive Community Treatment (ACT)
24/7 Intensive Psychiatric Team Serving the Bangor, ME Area.
ACT is a combination of clinical case management, mental health treatment and rehabilitation services. These services are provided by an eleven-member team, which includes a psychiatric clinician, a psychiatric nurse, a substance abuse counselor, community support workers, employment specialist, a peer specialist, program supervisor and a medical secretary. It is a full support model where the majority of services are provided by the team members who perform the tasks of their specialty as well as a comprehensive case management and community support function.
The CHCS ACT Team has expanded to include a component of service which allows for persons who are involuntarily committed to the Dorothea Dix Psychiatric Center (DDPC) and who meet additional criteria to be District Court committed to outpatient treatment provided by the ACT Team.
Progressive Treatment Team
The Progressive Treatment Team was established by the Maine State Legislature as an amendment to 34-B MRSA under section 3873. ACT PTP referrals must meet these specific criteria: For information on criteria and a general guide to Involuntary Committment Laws in Maine, click here.
To make a referral to either the ACT Team or the Progressive Treatment Team, please contact our Adult, Child, and Family Services Intake Coordinators at 947-0366, Extension 4500.
